Lighting Hit Casino Twice in one Month

Casino News:::Now when Jeffrey Conyard was getting back on his feet after last month’s thunderstorm shattered his South Casino business, it occurred once again. Last Friday night, one more thunderstorm tear through the Casino and even though it was not as powerful as the first, it paradoxically took the same path.

"We were on our way to come good and then we were knocked again, this happens again – it's unbelievable," Mr Conyard said. "We have no choice but to fight on, not let go of our business, but it’s a just awful fortune." Mr Conyard has owned the Browns Caravan Park in Hare Street with his wife Jacqueline for about five years.

The 17.12.05 storm injured the roof of the service station, lightning blew electrical items, counting fridges and computers, and water poured into the shop and to the office area. The second storm caused a power-surge, which has left the business with five petrol pumps now have to be operated by hand. Mr Conyard guesses the damage bill from both storms to be $50,000, not counting the loss of business while the Casino and the petrol station were closed for the clear out.
