Casino Culture
The word casino originates from Italian. The original term stood for a villa or a summerhouse built for pleasure purpose. With time those houses started to accommodate more and more entertaining activities among them gambling games.
Casino games are built on usually predetermined mathematical odds that are always calculated so that the house will have some advantage. This advantage is called an edge. Most gambling casino games have a static edge for the house, which caused by the rules of the game. Those games are usually such as roulette, blackjack or craps.
There are some casino games which do not give the house any share as the players gamble against each other. In those games the house usually takes a certain entrance fee, term for which is rake.
Also there are certain games which allow the casinos to determine their edge themselves. In such case the casino can decide exactly what the payout will be.
Along the centuries a lot of notable casinos have developed in gambling Mecca's such as Monaco, Nevada or Atlantic City. Those casinos are luxurious gambling facilities in which millions, and sometimes billions, were invested.
